Austerity In Québec
Austerity measures have long since affected Québec society and have deeply impacted the accessibility of education. The impacts of austerity measures were seen when the Québec government proposed to increase tuition of students from $2,168 to $3,793 between 2012 and 2018 inspiring the student protests all across the province. SSMU Vice-President External, Connor Spencer, explains how McGill University is affected by the austerity measures undertaken by the Québec government over the past decade.
